Junior Trainer/Facilitator - Ft. Knox

The AFX Group, LLC is accepting resumes for a Junior Train/Facilitator. The Army Transition Assistance Program (TAP) provides members of the Armed Forces with the highest quality of services, training, and transition support to make their transition from the military into civilian life a success.

The Junior Trainer/Facilitator works in the Fort Knox program management office (PMO) to develop and execute training to ensure that all new hires and current staff and prepared to do their jobs. The junior trainor, in conjunction with the senior trainer, will develop and deliver training on new curriculum, curriculum changes, or any major program changes within Army TAP. The Training Team, with assistance from the PM/DPM also provides quality surveillance and quality control of training outcomes. The trainers/facilitators must remain current on all curricula and workshops delivered as part of Army TAP. The training team will also be responsible for reviewing TAP interagency curricula (at the request of the Army) and providing written feedback for use in interagency working groups. 

The Federal Government has mandated the following for individuals selected to fill this position: 

  1. Must pass a pre-employment screening and drug test.
  2. Must undergo a background investigation (National Agency Check) conducted by the federal government.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must be a skilled communicator and teacher/facilitator. Able to think creatively balance competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and interact with all levels of contract and government staff.
  • The trainer/facilitators will develop, maintain, and execute a training program to ensure that all contractor field personnel maintain currency of skills, level of expertise in subject areas, and qualifications in support of the TAP Program.
  • Trainers/facilitators develops training programs for TAP staff including: management personnel, LNOs , Transition Counselors (including Soldier and Family Assistance Counselors (SFAC), Education Counselors, Financial Counselors, CSP  Coordinators, Administrative Specialists, Analysts, Forward Transition Support Team (FTSTs), the Virtual Centers, and Marketing Staff.
  • Ensure continuity of services during training events.
  • Develop training programs for newly hired employees and refresher training for incumbent staff during program adjustments. 
  • Participate in interagency curriculum review for TAP curricula changes. Provide written feedback, via the PM, to the Army POC for use in TAP interagency work groups. 
  • Complete a training Monthly Status Report (MSR).
  • Maintain and track training records throughout the course of the contract.
  • Conduct orientation training class for all contractor employees when they join Team Horizon or move to a new functional position on the contract
  • Other duties may be assigned by the contractor to assist in the performance of the PWS.
  • Trainer/facilitator will also be tasked with the following: complete all mandatory Government training; safeguard PII; file records according to ARIMS; upload information into integrated Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS; after training received from the Government); participate in sustainment training events as offered.


  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution, or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or 3+ years relative work experience.
  •  Experience must include curriculum development and training program execution. 
  • Working knowledge of government chain of command and transition policies. 
  • Thorough working knowledge of TAP and program requirements.
  • Experience working with the military or with the government’s Transition Assistance Program. 
  • Ability to complete a full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate). 
  • Exceptional leadership skills, time management, facilitation and organizational skills.  
  • Working knowledge of the TAP program.   
  • Experience with curriculum design and development; familiarity with virtual platforms and learning management systems preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Outstanding customer service skills. 
  • Experience working with personnel at geographically separated sites and in multiple time zones.
  • Experience conducting QC checks and ensuring training requirements are met.
  • Experience working directly with clients.
  • Experience with software packages such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
